In a letter organized by the Center for AI Policy, twelve leading organizations urged Congressional leadership to pass responsible artificial intelligence legislation before the end of the 118th Congress.

The letter, sent to Senate and House leadership, highlights bipartisan legislation that has cleared committees in both chambers. These bills would support AI safety research, strengthen NIST's leadership on responsible AI development standards, and improve how the federal government evaluates and manages AI risks.
