CAIP Showcases Advanced AI Risks to Congress in First-of-its-Kind Tech Exhibition on Capitol Hill

February 26, 2025

Washington, DC — On Monday, February 24, the Center for AI Policy (CAIP) organized an unprecedented demonstration of next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) systems and their societal implications.

CAIP hosted a hands-on tech exhibition at the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill featuring groundbreaking demonstrations from America's leading AI research institutions.

The tech exhibition provided:

+ Live demonstrations of cutting-edge AI systems from prestigious research teams

+ Direct access to leading AI researchers and policy experts

+ Exclusive insights into AI's evolving impact on national security, infrastructure resilience, and public trust

Jason Green-Lowe, executive director of the Center for AI Policy (CAIP), a nonpartisan research organization dedicated to mitigating the catastrophic risks of AI through policy development and advocacy, released the following statement:

"The Center for AI Policy was excited to host the first-of-its-kind Advanced AI Expo in the Rayburn House Office Building, where leading AI research groups from 14 universities around the country gathered to present interactive demos of the risks posed by the latest generation of AI. Representative Bill Foster (D-IL-11) joined many Congressional staffers as they tested real-time AI tools that designed new viruses, created audio deepfakes, and misrepresented drone deployments. The exhibition allowed America's policymakers to experience these advanced technological dangers firsthand. CAIP is confident this exhibition will help motivate Congress to pass legislation protecting the American public against unreliable AI."

The Advanced AI Expo marked a significant milestone in CAIP's ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between technological advancement and policy development, emphasizing the need for proactive federal legislation to address emerging AI risks.
