Campaign AI Scorecard
CAIP wants to send the message to voters, the candidates, and the media: "AI is an important issue that voters care about, and they deserve to know where the candidates stand. We encourage voters in races with a red light to call or email their candidate and ask them what they will do to require safe AI."
CAIP reviewed key campaign websites to determine which candidates have taken a position on artificial intelligence (AI). In late August 2024, CAIP looked at the websites of Senators in battleground states, Senators in races with open seats, and the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates.
The scorecard criteria is a stoplight: red, yellow, or green. A red light means that the campaign website has not come forward with a clear statement on AI policy. This report does not approve or disapprove of any campaign's positions -- we are just letting the voters know which candidates have a position on their website. AI is an important issue, and the public deserves to know where the candidates stand.
